"Sustainable management and use of genetic resources of
maize and perennial wheatgrasses in relation to global climate change and ensuring food security" № KП06Н96/8, funded by the Bulgarian National Science Fund, was held at Maize Research Institute - Knezha on January 22nd and 23rd 2026.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Maize Research Institute - Knezha, the Institute of Plant Genetic Resources - Sadovo and proven scientists from the Agricultural University - Plovdiv and the Institute of Forage Crops - Pleven, who discussed:
- the organisation of the activities and the administrative framework for the first stage;
- the planning of the first scientific and fundamental research (DNA analyses);
- the distribution of work packages, deadlines and responsibilities;
- the planned activities for the dissemination and popularisation of scientific results;
The work meeting laid a solid foundation for effective partnership and coordinated implementation of the set scientific and applied goals aimed at the sustainable use of plant genetic resources in the context of climate change.
The project contributes to the development of scientific
research and the search for long-term solutions in support of food security.
