Experimental activity under the GRAIN-GEN-CLIMATE MRI Knezha project

At the Maize Institute - Knezha, work continues on the project Sustainable management and use of genetic resources of maize and perennial cereal grasses in connection with global climate change and ensuring food security No. KP-06N96/8, to the Scientific Research Fund, including a greenhouse experiment with controlled irrigation regimes. The impact of water deficit on the growth and physiological state of plants is taken into account. The studied samples were obtained from healthy seed material and selected according to similar morphological indicators in order to limit the initial variability.

Cultivation is carried out under controlled conditions (16-hour photoperiod and regulated illumination), with three levels of water supply applied - 100%, 50% and 25% of the control norm. Soil moisture is maintained by daily weighing and correction of the mass of the containers.
