Treatment of local varieties of corn with growth-stimulating bacteria (Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus mojavensis) has been carried out, with the second type also aimed at increasing resistance to high temperatures and water deficit.
Changes in the root and lateral branches, moisture retention in the root system, changes in the photosynthetic activity of corn and the activation of antioxidant protection in conditions of climatic and toxic stress are to be taken into account.
The results of the work package will contribute to the selection of new innovative approaches to growing corn in conditions of climate change.
The necessary microbial cultures and working suspensions of beneficial bacteria were prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariana Petkova - Agricultural University - Plovdiv, and the treatment of the working field at the Maize Institute - Knezha was carried out by assistants Juliana Yordanova and Petyo Dauldzhiev.
In parallel with this activity, vascular trials will be conducted, in which treatment is pending.
